Buckhead.  In 1837, Henry Irby’s general store & tavern stood at the corner of what we now call W. Paces Ferry Road and Roswell Road. The legend is that on post outside the store & tavern was a large buck’s head serving as a marker for the store.  Buckhead was placed on the National Registrar of Historic Places in 1929.   You will find the Governor’s Mansion on W. Paces Ferry Road in Buckhead just down the street from the Atlanta History Center.   There is a variety homes in Buckhead from mansions to homes to condos to lofts to townhomes.  Buckhead has a wide range of  home styles ranging from traditional, modern, post war and mid-century modern.  Click here for more information.
