Inman Park located in Atlanta, GA is just 2 miles east of downtown Atlanta.  Inman Park is Atlanta’s first suburb & one of the Nation’s first garden suburbs.  The neighborhood was developed in 1880’s by Joel Hurt who believed people should live in a country-like setting but still close to the business district.  He insisted on large lots, curving streets, and parks throughout the neighborhood.    With his help, the residences were connected to the 5 Points business district via a trolley system.  The Trolley Barn which was the stop in Inman Park still available for rent for events & weddings. 

Historic Inman Park or HIP to its friends, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Inman Park home styles include Victorian, Queen Anne, Dutch Colonial Revival, American Four Square, Craftsman bungalow, Shotgun home, Italianate Townhomes, condos, and lofts.   You will find new construction homes alongside of the older homes.  There are historic guidelines for renovation and new builds helping keeping the neighborhood’s roots tied to Hurt’s vision.      

Inman Park proudly calls itself  “Small Town Down Town” – having kept the community feel of a small town while being located in a HIP urban location.   Active community involvement from the neighbors of Inman Park have built and sustained a thriving neighborhood association – Inman Park Neighborhood Association (IPNA) as well as the creation of Inman Park’s Security Patrol in cooperation of Atlanta Police Department.  One of the best festivals in Metro Atlanta is the Inman Park Festival held each spring at the end of April. 

Inman Park makes good use of its tree lined streets & sidewalks and features numerous restaurants, shops and parks – all within walking distance.  Inman Park has a Marta station and the Atlanta Beltline project also runs along the corridor of the neighborhood.    Freedom Park runs through the neighborhood and links Inman Park to adjoining neighborhoods.

Morningside Neighborhood | Atlanta, GA

Morningside is located in the northeast area of Atlanta – from Piedmont Road east to Briarcliff Road and from Amsterdam Avenue north to the rail line.   Johnson Estates, Lenox Park, University Park, & Noble Park are within the Morningside Neighborhood boundaries. Development in Morningside began in 1923.  By 1925 development on North Highland added shops to the area (now in the building where Rosebud Restaurant  is located).   Morningside Elementary  opened in 1929.  Johnson Estates & Hylan Park began development in 1930.  Atlanta architects Ivey and Crook designed homes in Lenox Park which began development in 1931.

There is a diverse architectural history in Morningside with a mix of English Tudor, English Cottage, Craftsman, Mid-century Ranches, French & Spanish inspired homes and new construction homes including a few contemporary. 

Today Morningside Neighborhood is a cohesive community with an active association known as Morningside Lenox Park Association and a Morningside Neighborhood Security Patrol.  Morningside is a very beautiful and walk-able neighborhood.  Streets are lined with trees & sidewalks.  There are great restaurants, shops and parks in Morningside.  Parks in the neighborhood include:  the Sunken Garden, Noble Park, Morningside Nature Preserve, Daniel Johnson & Herbert Taylor Park, and Sydney Marcus Park.
