Ansley Park

Ansely Park- Developed in 1904 and features historic homes and even housed the Georgia Governor’s Mansion for  many years.  Ansley Park is located in midtown and just blocks from Piedmont Park.   Ansley Park has historic homes, new construction, condos, and townhomes.  Click here for more information.

Buckhead

Buckhead.  In 1837, Henry Irby’s general store & tavern stood at the corner of what we now call W. Paces Ferry Road and Roswell Road. The legend is that on post outside the store & tavern was a large buck’s head serving as a marker for the store.  Buckhead was placed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 1929.   You will find the Governor’s Mansion on W. Paces Ferry Road in Buckhead just down the street from the Atlanta History Center.   There is a variety homes in Buckhead from mansions to homes to condos to lofts to townhomes.  Buckhead has a wide range of  home styles ranging from traditional, modern, post war and mid-century modern.  Click here for more information.

Cabbagetown

Cabbagetown is located next to downtown Atlanta and was a mill town  developed around the Fulton Cotton and Bag Mill, listed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 1976.    Cabbagetown, like most mill towns, features narrow streets and short blocks.   Workers of the mill lived in Cabbagetown until the mill closed in 1977.    The neighborhood has homes from the 1890’s and features Victorian bungalows, shotguns as well as newer construction homes.  On Carroll Street - you will find shops & restuarants.   Next to Cabbagetown is Oakland Cemetary.   Click here for more inofrmation on Cabbagetown.

Candler Park

Candler Park is located near Inman Park and Lake Claire.  The neighborhood is the National Registry of Historic Places.  You will find great bungalows, American four-squares, post war homes, condos and townhomes.   The neighborhood is also home to Candler Golf Course , Candler Park and Freedom Park trails.  You will find great restaurants and shops in Candler Park as well.  Click here for more information.

Clairemont - Great Lakes

Clairemont - Great Lakes is located in Decatur.  The historic neighborhood was developed in sections between 1913 and through the 1930’s.  Clairemont - Great Lakes neighborhood actually consists of four smaller neighborhoods:  the Great Lakes neighborhood, which has streets named after famous lakes; Clairemont AvenueClairemont Estates; Emory Acres; and Ponce de Leon Terrace.   You will find great places to walk to for shopping, eating and playing - the parks & Decatur Square.   Styles include bungalows, four-squares, Dutch Colonial and modern.

Decatur

Decatur was incorporated in 1823 and named after Stephen Decatur, a naval hero.    Decatur is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.   One of the few towns in metro Atlanta with a town square in tact - you can visit the Decatur Square where you will find the history center, restaurants, shops and outdoor venues for fireworks and picnics.   The City of Decatur has it’s own police department and school system.   Outside of the City of Decatur limits - many addresses will still contain Decatur but will be part of   Dekalb County.   Decatur is large area and there are numerous neighborhoods in Decatur and various architectural styles including bungalows, four squares, modern homes, new construction, townhomes and condos.   Click here for more information on Decatur.

Druid Hills

Druid Hills was an assemblage of a large tract of land by Atlanta developer Joel Hurt.  Hurt hired Olmstead, America’s leading landscape architect whose designs include the Biltmore House, NC & Central Park, NYC.  It was to be designed as Olmstead’s “ideal residential suburb”.   Many well-known Atlanta architects including Neel Reid, Philip Trammel Shutze, and Lewis Crook, Jr. designed homes in Druid Hills.  Located near Emory University and Virginia Highland, you can easily walk to shops & restaurants.   Click here for more information.

East Atlanta

East Atlanta hails itself as a small town in a big city and boasts the East Atlanta Village with shopping, restaurants and businesses.    The community is 3 miles east of Downtown Atlanta, about 1 mile south of Little Five Points and close to I-20.  Home styles range from craftsman bungalows, American four squares, post-war homes, and 1950’s ranches.  Over the years a great many new homes have built and it is possible to find a modern home amongst the more traditional styles.  Brownwood Park is also located in East Atlanta.      Click here for more information.

East Lake

East Lake was established in 1892 and is about 5 miles east of downtown Atlanta and adjoins Oakhurst.  Styles of homes are bungalows, post war homes and some new construction.   In 1904 the East Lake Golf Club was established.  The course was the home course to Bobby Jones and is still used for both regional and national golf tournaments.  The current English Tudor Club house was designed by Philip  Shutze.   For information on East Lake - click here.

Edgewood

Edgewood is located south of Little 5 Points - north of East Atlanta - and east of Reynoldstown.  Edgewood has great bungalows and in the past few years a surge of new construction homes and townhomes have been added to the landscape.  The Edgewood Retail Shopping District was built on 44 acres previously owned by Atlanta Gas Light and now features amazing retail and food options.   Click here for more information on Edgewood.

Grant Park

Grant Park  middle class and upper middle class residents began moving into Grant Park homes in the 1890’s.  Many of the homes are craftsman bungalows and American Four-squares on shallow lots but you will also find some Victorian homes along with new construction homes.  The neighborhood is home to residences, shopping, restaurants, Grant Park, historic Oakland Cemetery, Zoo Atlanta, and Cyclorama.   Click here for more information on Grant Park.

Inman Park

Inman Park- Historic Inman Park is Atlanta’s first planned community & one of the Nation’s first garden suburbs and located 2 miles east of Downtown. Active in their community - residents celebrate the neighborhood every April with the Inman Park Festival.   Neighborhood features historic homes - Victorians, bungalows & American four squares, new construction, townhomes, condos, lofts, rentals, shopping, restaurants, and parks including Freedom Park Trails.  Inman Park is also home to a community pool - Inman Park Pool.   More information on Inman Park.

Kirkwood

Kirkwood was an early streetcar suburb of Atlanta.  Kirkwood is just 4 miles from downtown Atlanta and 1.5 miles from downtown Decatur and is located in the City of Atlanta & Dekalb county.    Kirkwood has great restaurants and shops along with a mix of historic homes and new construction homes.  You will find a mix of bungalows, four squares and post-war homes in Kirkwood.   For more information click here.

Loring Heights

Loring Heights is a neighborhood of just over 300 homes located north of Midtown Atlanta between Peachtree Street & Northside Drive and just south of Buckhead.  The neighborhood has older homes along with new construction homes and has a park with duck pond and other green space under development.  It is an easy walk to great restaurants & shops.   Click here for more information.

Midtown

Midtown.   The southern half of midtown was originally purchased by Richard Peters in 1848 to use the pine pine forest there for fuel for his downtown mill.   Over the next 40 years, Peters sold off  residential land lots.  He built his own house was built on Peachtree on the land and his son, Edward built his house here as well.  Today Midtown is home to historic homes (craftsman, Four-squares, Victorians), new construction homes, lofts, condos, townhomes, high rises, office space, restaurants and shopping.    You will also find Piedmont Park, The Atlanta Botanical Gardens, The Fox Theatre,  and the Woodruff Arts Center.  Click here for more information on Midtown Neighborhood Assoc and here for info on the Midtown Alliance.

Morningside Lenox Park

Morningside Lenox Parkwas founded in 1931.  It is located north of Virginia-Highland, east of Ansley Park and west of Druid Hills.  Development of  Morningside’s Noble Park, Johnson Estates, and Hylan Park  began in 1930.  In 1931, Lenox Park was established with homes designed by Atlantan architects Ivey & Crook.    University Park is also located in Morningside.   Click here for more information.

Oakhurst

Oakhurst was incorporated in 1910 and in 1916 was annexed by Decatur.   Oakhurst is just minutes from downtown Atlanta and features historic  bungalows along with newer construction.  Between 1905  & 1912 - Agnes-Scott College graduate, Lila Ross Wilburn, designed many of the homes on Adams Street working with Georgia Adams who oversaw the development on her father’s land.  Dowtown Oakhurst boasts great restaurants and shops.  Oakhurst Community Garden is a great place to spend some time and learn about organic gardening.

Old Fourth Ward

Old Fourth Ward is located east of Downtown Atlanta and west of Poncey-Highlands & Inman Park.   Originally the neighborhood was home to Morris Brown College & Clark Atlanta University.   You will find a mix of historic home styles in Old Fourth Ward.

Ormewood Park

Ormewood Park is located east - southeast of downtown Atlanta and east of Grant Park.  There are historic homes dating from the 1890’s to newer homes built in the past few years.  You will find bungalows and post war homes in the neighborhood.  There is great shopping and restaurants in the nearby village.   Click here for more information.

Poncey-Highland

Poncey-Highlandis named after one of  the intersections that define the neighborhood - Ponce de Leon & N. Highland Avenue.Established between 1905 and 1930, Poncey-Highland is bordered by Little Five Points to the east, the Old Fourth Ward and Midtown Atlanta to the west, Inman Park to the south, and Virginia-Highland to the north. The neighborhood is home to the Carter Center & Jimmy Carter Presidential Library.  Another local landmark is Manuel’s Tavern established in 1956 is a favorite locals restaurant & political hangout.   You will find a mix of home styles from historic homes to new construction in the neighborhood along with numerous restaurants, shops & Freedom Parkway.    Click here for more information.

Virginia Highland

Virginia Highlandwas founded in the early twentieth century as a streetcar community.  The origin of the name is from the original commercial district - which is now great shopping & eats - the intersection of Virginia and North Highland Avenues.   The neighborhood is near Downtown Atlanta and adjacent to Druid Hills, Morningside Lenox Park.  Homes range from bungalows to American four-squares.  Along with the historic homes you will find new homes, condos, townhomes, and parks.  Click here for more information on Virginia Highland.

Winnona Park
