Sales Tax Holiday – July 30 – August 2, 2009

Today starts a 4 day sales tax holiday!  If you are in need of a personal computer or it’s time for back to school clothing ($100 per item maximum) or school supplies ($20 per item maximum) – now is the time to buy!

In addition to being able to purchase a laptop or desktop PC – other computing items may be eligible for the tax exempt status – software, docking stations, disks, memory, keyboards, printers, printer cartridges, zip drives, scanners, storage devices, etc.

Corndogorama – 2009

This weekend – Saturday & Sunday – in the East Atlanta Village is the 11th annual Corndogorama Indie – Rock Extravaganza!   There will be music on 2 stages, street performers, art, pie cook off, eating contest and corndogs!

Festival starts noon and runs until 11pm both Saturday & Sunday and is located this year in the heart of East Atlanta Village.  Tickets are $20 at Festival.  More information  – including schedule of bands – can be found on the Corndogorama’s website.

Va-Highland Summerfest 2009

summerfestlogoIt’s time for the 26th annual Va-Highland Festival!  The Festival begins on Friday, June 5th  with the community & festival activities.  The festival official opens to the public on Saturday, June 6th and runs through Sunday.  There will be an artist market, live music, and lots of beer & food.  The festival is in the heart of Virginia Highlands. 

Details:   Saturday, June 6, 2009, 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (Artist Market closes at 6:30 p.m.)
Sunday, June 7, 2009, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Kirkwood Spring Fling & Tour of Homes – 2009!

The 7th Annual Kirkwood Spring Fling and Tour of Homes is weekend.   The open air artist market is located at Bessie Branham Park on Delano.  There will be bands, food and a children’s area.    The festival is open Sat & Sunday from 10 am until 7pm.  The tour of homes will be both days – 12 pm to 6pm.  For details click here.

Gardens for Connoisseurs Tour – May 9 & 10th

botanical-gardens_fern_modgalleryThis Saturday & Sunday is the Atlanta Botanical Gardens’ Gardens for Connoisseurs Tour.  The Tour features great design and planting ideas from Atlanta’s most talented gardeners and landscape architects, and these beautiful private gardens are open to the public only for this event.  Tour hours are 10 to 5pm each day.  Admission is $20 in advance and $30 day Sat & Sun.  You also receive admission to the rest of the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.  For details click here.

There is also a Mother’s Day Tea on Sunday the 1oth.  Choose one of three seatings: 11 a.m., 1 p.m. or 3 p.m – RESERVATIONS REQUIRED.   Catered by Sun in My Belly:  pots of tea are accompanied by scones, crumpets, tea sandwiches and all the flourishes of a hearty High Tea.   For pricing and details on reservations – click here.

Zoo Plant Sale

zoo_atlanta_logoThis Saturday the Zoo Atlanta is hosting a plant sale.  Zoo Horticulture experts will be on hand to offer advice and answer questions.  Native plant varieties will be offered for sale.   Sale is this Saturday, May 2nd  from 8 am to 2pm.  Click here for more information.  The sale benefit’s the Zoo’s Green Team whose goal is to maintain a sustainable workplace at the Zoo.  Thus far they achieved some amazing accomplishments – click here for details on the Zoo’s Green Team.

Inman Park Festival – April 24th, 25th & 26th

This weekend is the 38th Annual Inman Park Spring Festival & Tour of Homes.  It’s my favorite one.  I know I am completely biased because it is my neighborhood but it really does have a lot to offer. 

The Tour of Homes begins on Friday at noon and continues through Sunday evening.  The Festival is open on Saturday & Sunday beginning at 11am each day.  On Saturday at 2pm is the parade.  Along with the various artists lining the streets and the beer trucks – there are bands at various times and locations.   Schedule details are here.

Dogwood Festival & Midtown Tour of Homes

In addition to the Druid Hills Tour of Homes this weekend ~ the 73rd annual Dogwood Festival is happening in Piedmont Park along with Midtown Tour of Homes!   

The Dogwood Festival  is an amazing event with great art, music, food, kid activities & even a World Champion Frisbee Dog exhibition.   Leave your dogs at home during the festival – only people allowed at the festival.   Festival hours are Friday, tmidtown-logo-169he 17th of April – noon to 9pm;  Saturday the 18th – 10 am to 9pm & Sunday noon to 7pm.

Midtown Tour of Homes is Saturday from 11am to 5pm & Sunday noon to 5pm.  Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 on Saturday & Sunday.  Included in the tour are historical homes, lofts & even Stonehurst Bed & Breakfast.  Stonehurst B&B recently underwent a major eco-friendly renovation – I can’t wait to see the renovation.  Click here for more information on the tour of homes.
