Grant Park

Grant Park middle class and upper middle class residents began moving into Grant Park homes in the 1890′s. Many of the homes are craftsman bungalows and American Four-squares on shallow lots but you will also find some Victorian homes along with new construction homes. The neighborhood is home to residences, shopping, restaurants, Grant Park, historic Oakland Cemetery, Zoo Atlanta, and Cyclorama. Click here for more information on Grant Park.
Cabbagetown

Cabbagetown is located next to downtown Atlanta and was a mill town developed around the Fulton Cotton and Bag Mill, listed on the National Registrar of Historic Places in 1976. Cabbagetown, like most mill towns, features narrow streets and short blocks. Workers of the mill lived in Cabbagetown until the mill closed in 1977. The neighborhood has homes from the 1890′s and features Victorian bungalows, shotguns as well as newer construction homes. On Carroll Street – you will find shops & restuarants. East Lake

East Lake was established in 1892 and is about 5 miles east of downtown Atlanta and adjoins Oakhurst. Styles of homes are bungalows, post war homes and some new construction. In 1904 the East Lake Golf Club was established. The course was the home course to Bobby Jones and is still used for both regional and national golf tournaments. Decatur

Decatur was incorporated in 1823 and named after Stephen Decatur, a naval hero. Decatur is listed on the National Registrar of Historic Places. One of the few towns in metro Atlanta with a town square in tact – you can visit the Decatur Square where you will find the history center, restaurants, shops and outdoor venues for fireworks and picnics. The City of Decatur has it’s own police department and school system. Outside of the City of Decatur limits – many addresses will still contain Decatur but will be part of Dekalb County. Decatur is large area and there are numerous neighborhoods in Decatur and various architectural styles including bungalows, four squares, modern homes, new construction, townhomes and condos. Edgewood

Edgewood is located south of Little 5 Points – north of East Atlanta – and east of Reynoldstown. Edgewood has great bungalows and in the past few years a surge of new construction homes and townhomes have been added to the landscape. Druid Hills

Druid Hills was an assemblage of a large tract of land by Atlanta developer Joel Hurt. Hurt hired Olmstead, America’s leading landscape architect whose designs include the Biltmore House, NC & Central Park, NYC. It was to be designed as Olmstead’s “ideal residential suburb”. Many well-known Atlanta architects including Neel Reid, Philip Trammel Shutze, and Lewis Crook, Jr. designed homes in Druid Hills. Buckhead

Buckhead. In 1837, Henry Irby’s general store & tavern stood at the corner of what we now call W. Paces Ferry Road and Roswell Road. The legend is that on post outside the store & tavern was a large buck’s head serving as a marker for the store. Buckhead was placed on the National Registrar of Historic Places in 1929. You will find the Governor’s Mansion on W. Paces Ferry Road in Buckhead just down the street from the Atlanta History Center. There is a variety homes in Buckhead from mansions to homes to condos to lofts to townhomes. East Atlanta hails itself as a small town in a big city and boasts the East Atlanta Village with shopping, restaurants and businesses. The community is 3 miles east of Downtown Atlanta, about 1 mile south of Little Five Points and close to I-20. Home styles range from craftsman bungalows, American four squares, post-war homes, and 1950′s ranches. There is actually no lake in Lake Claire but there great homes as well as a membership community pool available for anyone to join. Candler Park is located near Inman Park and Lake Claire and is a beautiful neighborhood with great sidewalks and parks. Zip code for Candler Park is 30307. The neighborhood is the National Registry of Historic Places. You will find great bungalows, American four-squares, post war homes, condos, town homes and new construction homes. The neighborhood is also home to Candler Golf Course , Candler Park and Freedom Park Trails. You will find great restaurants and shops in Candler Park as well.
